Decorative mouldings are typically the focal point of this style. Elegant crown moulding, wainscot and intricate casing bring these interior spaces together, and most traditional homes feature a neutral palette with heavier upholstery and fabrics. It’s fancy, but not too fancy. It’s comfortable, but not too comfortable.
Today’s traditional homes often incorporate open floor plans, large kitchen islands and darker hardwood finishes for furniture and flooring.
